Pear and Butter Leaf Lettuce Salad

Pear and Butter Leaf Lettuce Salad is so refreshing and light.
It is one of my favorite salads to prepare.  Just for fun I like to some times
change things up a bit.  It keeps the salad interesting, and helps use
what you may have on hand.

Here, I made the basic salad, of tossed greens in a light dijon vinaigrette.
Once plated it is topped with slices of ripe pear.  My favorite pear to both eat, and
use on this salad is the  D' Anjou  pear.  It is sweet, but not overly
syrupy. Plus, it has a crisp bite quality to it that I really like.

Then comes the fun!  Add whatever cheese or nuts you like.
In a traditional version, I use a veined cheese, like gorgonzola or blue.
I always add toasted nuts, either walnut or pecan.

I decided to use up some 100 day gouda on this salad.  It is a very sharp and salty cheese,
perfect to compliment the pears.
Add a few toasted nuts around the plate, and viola!  you have a beautiful
and amazing salad both in taste and presentation.

As Always,
ENJOY!
